白宮發言人普薩基在記者會上說：“美國聯邦調查局在參與在美國政府協調下開展的努力。”宗教團體“基督援助事奉”（Christian Aid Ministries）早前證實，該團體有17名工作人員在海地遭到綁架，其中16人為美國公民，1人為加拿大公民。被綁架者包括5名成年男子，7名成年女子和5名未成年人。
